What changes come with the GDPR?

The fundamental changes of the GDPR include:

  • compulsory appointment of Data Protection Officer (DPO) for all municipalities,
  • compulsory appointment of Data Protection Officer (DPO) for all schools and kindergartens,
  • obligation to register all information systems (IS) again,
  • new forms and security documents according to DSGVO,
  • EU-wide harmonization of data protection measures,
  • obligation to report and document security incidents,
  • new arrangements for the consent of minors,
  • new rules on the cross-border transfer of personal data,
  • strengthening the rights of data subjects,
  • fines of up to EUR 20 million, or up to 4% of the total worldwide annual turnover of the previous financial year, whichever is higher
